Directors


Brian Stopford		Phil Nicholson		Glen Wood
Brian launched Stopfords in September 1994. He has over 35 years’ experience in accounting and is a highly respected member of the Mansfield business community. He hopes to see the practice grow for many years to come!		Phil joined the team in March 2000 and became a Director in May 2007. He specialises in corporate businesses and works closely with a number of our major clients.		Glen joined the team in 2002 and became a Director in May 2007. He has over 25 years’ experience as an accountant and he manages our Sole Trader and Partnership Team.

Chesterfield Office


Rob Bray
Rob qualified as a Certified accountant in 2007 and heads up our growing base in Chesterfield. He is skilled to assist all business sectors but specialises in the finance aspects of the Motor Trade.

Corporate Team


Martin Briggs		Helen Etches		Rebecca Hevness		Sarah Barker
Martin joined the practice in 2006 and gained his ACCA qualification in Summer 2008. Martin is a senior Accountant in the Corporate team and has formed close relationships with a number of our corporate clients.		Recently qualified as an accountant she joined the practice in March 2010. Helen has direct responsibility for corporate clients where she continues to forge relationships.		Rebecca is currently working towards her ACCA Qualification and her time is split between corporate and sole trader teams.		Sarah qualified as an accountant in December 2009, she joined the practice in 2011 and continues to develop client relationships within the practice.

Tax


Tricia Cutts		Steven Strawther		Shirley Reap
Tricia is another of the original Stopfords team and is one of the few Chartered Taxation Advisors in Mansfield, She heads the tax team and has extensive and invaluable tax knowledge.		Steven joined Stopfords in 2001 and immediately settled into the role of Tax Assistant. He provides excellent support and now works closely with many tax clients. Steven is responsible for clients within the CIS Subcontractors Scheme.		Shirley is relatively new having joined the firm in 2010 as a senior tax manager. She has worked in this area for many years, is part CTA qualified and brings with her a wealth of experience.

Sole Traders and Partnerships


Nick Aske		Pat Stopford		Sue Day		Daniel Ellis
Nick joined the practice in April 2009, Nick had owned his own practice for 18 years and has brought with him a wealth of experience, Nick continues to develop his role within the department.		As her name suggests, Pat is one of the original Stopfords team and has over 25 years’ experience. She is a fully qualified accountant whose role is split between the corporate and sole traders and partnership teams where she has direct responsibility for a number of clients. She helps with staff development and Sage Training.		Sue is one of the original team at Stopford Associates and has over 40 years’ experience. She has direct responsibility for a number of clients.		Daniel is a trainee accountant working towards his Accounting Technician qualification. Daniel joined the team in August 2010.


Penny Carlin
Penny is a relatively new member of the team who joined in 2011and works as an accounts assistant.

Payroll Department


Mandy Charlton		Jane Mackenzie
Joining the firm in 2004 Mandy has worked to develop the payroll department and ease the burden of payroll on our clients. She has a lot of experience, built up over the years, and recognises that attention to detail is a pre-requirement in producing prompt and accurate information.		Jane joined our Payroll department in July 2006 but has over 17 years of payroll experience. She has a wealth of knowledge and continues to develop in her role within the department.

Karen Wright

Gemma has 11 years’ experience and is an original member of this department. Gemma plays an important role in providing clients with bookkeeping services.

Karen joined the firm in May 2009 and has over 20 years’ experience in bookkeeping. She continues to develop her role within the department

Corporate Finance


Graham Richmond		Richard Smith
With a banking background Graham joined us in 1999 and now helps a large number of our clients with raising finance. He is also creator and nurturer of our Flying Start programme which is designed to help new start-up businesses.		Richard spent much of his career in commercial banking before joining us in 2003. Together with Brian they set up the Stopford Consulting Ltd which helps clients in developing their own businesses. The work is varied and often involves working closely with clients in financial planning and commercial matters, he also covers business sales and acquisitions.

Administration


Ruth Wilson		Amanda Parsons		Sam Tuffnell		Angela Keam
Ruth joined the team in 1997 as a receptionist and has worked her way up to Office Manager. Ruth is responsible for practice administration.		Amanda has been a central figure in this department since she joined the practice in 2000. She is head receptionist and is known for her friendly smile.		Sam joined us in 2005 and can often be seen on the reception desk. She also is responsible for the statutory filing of records.		Angela has been with us since 2009 and continues to give invaluable support to the administration team and also the taxation department.
