Starter Checklist has replaced P46s

HMRC have introduced a ‘Starter Checklist’ form for employers to use when they have a new employee starting. If your employee does not have a P45 form this could be for one of the following reasons:

  • It’s your employees first job
  • They are continuing with another job as well as working for you
  • Your employee is a student working for you solely during their holidays

You will only need to use this checklist to work out your employees’ tax code if they don’t have a P45, or if they left their last job before 6 April 2015.

To complete the form you will need their:

  • Date of Birth
  • Gender
  • Full Address
  • Start Date
